We pioneered the standards
that opened Muslim-friendly travel to the world.
Since 2008, CrescentRating has transformed the Muslim-friendly travel segment from a niche observation into a $235B+ data-driven asset class. Our proprietary frameworks are the global benchmark used by national tourism organizations and Fortune 500 hospitality brands to capture the world’s fastest-growing traveler demographic.
How a simple idea became a global standard.
Singapore · 2008
In 2008, traveling as a Muslim meant uncertainty. Will the kitchen understand my requirements? Is there a place to pray? Does this hotel even know what to ask? CrescentRating was founded to replace that uncertainty with a single, trusted standard.
CrescentRating identified the gap and institutionalized the solution. We codified what hospitality looks like when it is genuinely inclusive of Muslim travelers: prayer facilities, halal kitchens, Ramadan readiness and audited with the same rigor applied to any global travel standard.
That codification became the Crescent Rating standard. It de-risks investment for hotel groups, gives tourism boards an evidence-based strategy, and gives regulators a benchmark they can defend. What began as a Singapore initiative is now the reference the industry uses to talk about a market it once overlooked.

The CrescentRating journey.
A proven record of institutional growth and industry definition.
From a concept paper in 2006 to a global standard adopted by national tourism authorities, partnerships with Mastercard, and UNHCR, nearly two decades of building the category we pioneered.
Four principles we do not compromise on.
The segment did not exist when we started. The discipline that kept us independent, evidence-based, and useful is the same discipline that has kept the standard credible.
Rigor over rhetoric
We rate, audit, and publish to standards that hold up to scrutiny. Inclusion claims must be evidenced, not asserted.
Built for the industry
Our work is designed to be used by ministers, hotel groups, and operators in real strategy and real product decisions.
Platform, not gatekeeper
We provide the standards, the academy, and the data infrastructure that let others build credibly. We grow the segment by enabling the industry.
A long horizon
We make decisions for the next decade, not the next quarter. The Muslim travel market is generational; our work has to be too.
The scale of the category we pioneered.
CrescentRating’s research and rating have moved Muslim travel from a footnote to a strategic priority for ministries and global brands.
