This agreement governs your use of CrescentRating’s websites, platforms, research, accreditation badges, B2B tools, and events.
Effective 1 July 2026· CrescentRating Pte Ltd (Singapore)
Document Control & Metadata
1.1Corporate Entity
These Terms & Conditions (the "Terms") are a binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and CrescentRating Pte Ltd, a company incorporated in Singapore ("CrescentRating," "CR," "we," "us," or "our").
1.2Scope of Application
These Terms govern all websites, apps, dashboards, research, badges, and events operated under the CrescentRating brand, including:
- CrescentRating.com and its subdomains;
- The HalalTrip platform, where operated under the CrescentRating corporate umbrella;
- CrescentRating mobile applications;
- Proprietary B2B dashboards, rating calculators, and audit portals (the "Platforms");
- Research publications and datasets, including the Global Muslim Travel Index ("GMTI"); and
- CrescentRating and Halal In Travel Global Summit events (collectively with the above, the "Services").
1.3Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using any Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you act on behalf of an organization, you warrant you have authority to bind it. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1.4Amendments
CrescentRating may amend these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified via the Services or by email to registered corporate account holders. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
1.5Supplementary Terms
B2B auditing, accreditation licensing, API access, training, and events may be governed by additional agreements (e.g. Master Service Agreements, Accreditation License Agreements). Where a validly executed supplementary agreement conflicts with these Terms, it prevails for the subject matter it covers.
Intellectual Property & Proprietary Frameworks
2.1Ownership
All content, methodologies, frameworks, indices, software, and materials on the Services — including audit instruments, scoring methodologies, algorithms, and data visualizations — are the exclusive property of CrescentRating, its licensors, or its content partners, protected under Singapore and international copyright, trademark, database rights, and trade secret law. No right or title is transferred to you except as expressly stated in these Terms.
2.2Proprietary Frameworks
CrescentRating owns a suite of proprietary assessment frameworks and models used to evaluate and benchmark Muslim-friendly travel, including:
- ACES Framework (Accessibility, Communication, Environment, Service) — assesses the readiness of destinations, hotels, airlines, and operators to serve Muslim travelers.
- RIDA Framework — CrescentRating's Halal-compliance assessment and classification methodology.
- TRUST Framework — CrescentRating's strategic model for faith-aware traveler engagement (Transparency, Relevance, User Experience, Social Connection, Thoughtful Rewards).
- Destination Activation Stack — CrescentRating's operational architecture integrating ACES infrastructure planning, RIDA experience design, and TRUST-based conversion into a single destination roadmap.
The current, complete list of CrescentRating's proprietary frameworks and models is maintained at crescentrating.com/resources/playbook.
These frameworks and models, together with their scoring rubrics, checklists, and certification criteria (the "Proprietary Frameworks"), are confidential trade secrets and copyrighted works. You may not reproduce, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from any Proprietary Framework without CrescentRating's prior written consent. Third parties may not describe an assessment as "ACES-based," "RIDA-informed," "TRUST-aligned," or otherwise derived from a Proprietary Framework without a valid license.
2.3Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) and Research Outputs
The GMTI and all underlying datasets, rankings, survey instruments, and reports issued by CrescentRating (the "Research Outputs") are protected copyrighted works and, where applicable, protected databases.
You may view Research Outputs for personal or internal use, and cite limited excerpts for commentary, academic, or journalistic purposes with clear attribution to CrescentRating and no implied endorsement.
Without a separate written license, you may not republish or redistribute any Research Output; repackage, white-label, or resell GMTI data, scores, or rankings; or misrepresent, selectively quote, or materially alter GMTI findings.
2.4Prohibition on Automated Scraping, Crawling, and AI/LLM Ingestion
CrescentRating's Research Outputs, Proprietary Frameworks, and underlying datasets represent one of the most cited authorities in the global halal travel sector. Notwithstanding any robots.txt or similar technical protocol on the Services:
No scraping. No AI/LLM training. No exceptions without a paid license.
- No automated means — bots, crawlers, scrapers, or headless browser automation — may access, extract, or replicate Services content beyond what is expressly permitted by an authenticated API under a commercial license.
- No content from the Services — including Research Outputs, GMTI rankings, or scoring data — may be used to train, fine-tune, or evaluate any AI or machine learning model, including large language models ("LLMs").
- Ingestion of Services content by any third-party AI crawler or RAG pipeline is prohibited.
- Commercial or research use of CrescentRating data for machine ingestion or systematic automated access requires a separate, paid API Commercial License.
CrescentRating monitors for unauthorized scraping and reserves the right to deploy technical countermeasures. Violation of this Section is a material breach and may give rise to injunctive relief, damages, and account termination.
2.5Feedback
Suggestions or feedback you submit about the Services may be used and incorporated by CrescentRating without obligation or compensation to you.
Trademark, Badge, & Accreditation Licensing
3.1Trademark Ownership
"CrescentRating," "HalalTrip," "GMTI," "ACES," "RIDA," "TRUST," "Halal In Travel Global Summit," and associated logos (the "Marks") are trademarks of CrescentRating. No license to use the Marks is granted except under a written Accreditation License Agreement or trademark license.
3.2Accreditation and Certification Badges
Operators that complete a CrescentRating audit and are awarded accreditation (each, an "Accredited Partner") may be granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to display the corresponding "CrescentRating Certified" or Crescent Rating badge/icon (each, a "Badge") for the specific property or offering named in the accreditation certificate.
3.3Conditions of Badge Use
- No Modification — the Badge must be reproduced exactly as provided, without resizing, recoloring, or alteration.
- Non-Transferability — licensed only to the entity, property, and location named in the certificate; not extendable to affiliates or franchisees without a new accreditation.
- Accurate Representation — displayed only in connection with the audited services or facilities.
- No Implied Endorsement — display does not imply endorsement of any unaudited aspect of the Accredited Partner's business.
- Term-Limited — the license runs only for the validity period of the accreditation.
3.4Revocation
CrescentRating may immediately suspend or revoke a Badge license, without prior notice where circumstances warrant, if the Accredited Partner:
- Fails a scheduled, unscheduled, or complaint-triggered re-audit;
- Lets its accreditation expire without renewal;
- Materially alters its Halal-compliance standards, facilities, or ownership from the audited basis;
- Uses the Badge inconsistently with Section 3.3; or
- Fails to pay applicable accreditation or licensing fees.
Immediate removal obligation
Upon revocation or expiration, the Accredited Partner must immediately cease all display of the Badge and remove references to current accreditation within five (5) business days. Continued use of a revoked or expired Badge is trademark infringement and a material breach, entitling CrescentRating to injunctive relief and damages.
3.5Government and Institutional Partners
Destination-wide accreditation programs or co-branded initiatives with tourism boards, ministries, or destination marketing organizations are governed by a separate memorandum of understanding, which prevails over this Section 3 for the program it covers.
B2B Services, Auditing, & Training
4.1Corporate Accounts
Access to B2B rating calculators, audit dashboards, and training modules (the "B2B Tools") is provided to authorized corporate accounts under a valid subscription or service agreement. Account holders must keep credentials confidential, ensure data entered is accurate, and comply with any usage limits in their order form.
CrescentRating may suspend account access for breach, non-payment, or misuse of the B2B Tools, including any attempt to reverse-engineer the underlying rating calculator logic.
4.2Auditing Services
Audits are conducted under CrescentRating's then-current protocols for the applicable Proprietary Framework. Findings and accreditation determinations are confidential to the audited entity and any commissioning partner, unless the audited entity is subsequently listed as an Accredited Partner.
4.3Training Programs
Training modules are licensed for use solely by the enrolled individual or employees of the enrolled corporate account. Course content and completion certificates remain CrescentRating's property and may not be redistributed or used to build competing training programs.
4.4Disclaimer of Warranties for Ratings
A CrescentRating accreditation, Crescent Rating, or framework score reflects an assessment made at the specific point in time of the audit. Accredited Partners are independent businesses CrescentRating does not operationally control, and may change ownership, suppliers, or Halal-compliance practices after an audit without CrescentRating's knowledge.
No liability for a partner's later changes
CrescentRating does not warrant that an Accredited Partner's standards will remain unchanged after audit, and has no liability to consumers or any third party for loss or harm arising from a Partner's later alteration of the facilities, services, or Halal-compliance standards assessed at accreditation.
Consumers relying on a rating or accreditation for booking decisions should independently verify current standards with the operator before travel. This Section 4.4 does not limit CrescentRating's obligations to the audited entity under a separately executed services agreement.
4.5No Fiduciary or Advisory Relationship
Use of the B2B Tools, training, or receipt of an audit does not create any fiduciary, advisory, joint venture, partnership, agency, or employment relationship with CrescentRating.
Events & Summits (Halal In Travel Global Summit)
5.1Registration, Ticketing & Attendance
Registration for the Halal In Travel Global Summit, roadshows, and award ceremonies ("Events") is subject to these Terms and any event-specific terms published at booking. Fees are due in full before admission, and tickets are non-transferable unless sold as a transferable corporate pass. Virtual attendees receive a limited, non-exclusive license to view the livestream for personal or internal business use; recording or rebroadcasting Event content without written consent is prohibited.
5.2Code of Conduct
CrescentRating may remove, without refund, any attendee who harasses or disrupts others, solicits or sells outside a contracted sponsorship, violates venue or safety rules, or otherwise damages the Event's integrity.
5.3Refunds and Cancellations
Except where consumer protection law or a published Event refund schedule requires otherwise: cancellations 60+ days before the Event are refundable less an administrative fee; 30–59 days before, fifty percent (50%) refundable; fewer than 30 days before, non-refundable (though CrescentRating may permit substitution or credit at its discretion). No-shows are not refunded.
5.4Event Modifications and Force Majeure
CrescentRating may modify an Event's program, venue, or format as reasonably necessary. If an Event is postponed, relocated, or cancelled due to a Force Majeure Event (Section 7.4), CrescentRating will, at its discretion, transfer the registration, issue a credit, or refund fees net of costs already committed to third parties. CrescentRating is not liable for attendees' indirect costs (travel, accommodation, visas) from a disrupted Event.
User Conduct & Acceptable Use
6.1Prohibited Conduct
In connection with the Services, you agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer or decompile any Service or its Proprietary Frameworks, except as law permits;
- Upload malware, ransomware, or other malicious code;
- Attempt unauthorized access to CrescentRating's servers, databases, or accounts, including via credential stuffing or SQL injection;
- Disrupt the Services through denial-of-service attacks or excessive automated querying;
- Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with CrescentRating or an Accredited Partner; or
- Use the Services unlawfully, including in violation of export control or sanctions law.
CrescentRating may investigate suspected violations, report unlawful activity to law enforcement, and suspend or terminate access, with or without notice.
Limitation of Liability & Indemnification
7.1Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted under Singapore law, the Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy. CrescentRating does not warrant that the Services are uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
7.2Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CrescentRating is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill — arising from your use of the Services, under any legal theory, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
CrescentRating's aggregate liability arising out of these Terms or the Services shall not exceed the greater of (a) fees you paid CrescentRating for the relevant Service in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or (b) SGD 100 — except where such limitation is prohibited by law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Singapore law.
7.3Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify CrescentRating against claims and costs arising from:
- Your breach of these Terms;
- Your misuse of a Research Output, Proprietary Framework, or Mark, including unauthorized scraping or AI/LLM ingestion (Section 2);
- Your non-compliant use of a Badge (Section 3); or
- A third-party claim arising from your business's alteration of standards assessed in a CrescentRating audit.
7.4Force Majeure
CrescentRating is not liable for delay or failure resulting from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, war, governmental action, or failures of third-party service providers ("Force Majeure Events").
Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
8.1Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
8.2Mandatory Mediation
Any dispute (a "Dispute") will first be negotiated in good faith between senior representatives. If unresolved within 30 days, the parties will mediate through the Singapore Mediation Centre in English, in Singapore, before proceeding to arbitration.
8.3Binding Arbitration
SIAC arbitration, seated in Singapore
If mediation does not resolve the Dispute within 60 days, it will be finally resolved by arbitration under the SIAC Rules, seated in Singapore, before one arbitrator (or three if the amount in dispute warrants), in English. The award is final, binding, and enforceable in any court of competent jurisdiction.
8.4Exceptions
CrescentRating may seek urgent injunctive relief in any competent court to protect its IP, Proprietary Frameworks, Marks, or confidential information — including against unauthorized scraping, AI/LLM ingestion, or Badge misuse — without first pursuing mediation or arbitration.
8.5Class Action Waiver
To the extent permitted by law, Disputes are resolved individually; you waive any right to a class, collective, or representative action against CrescentRating.
8.6Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force, and the invalid provision is deemed modified to the minimum extent needed to make it enforceable.
